A black box theater is a performance space with black walls and a black, flat floor. The simplicity of the space allows it to be used to create a variety of configurations of stage and audience interaction and to place the focus on the human element of performance rather than sets and technology.
This makes it ideal for a school like Christ Church Academy where the focus is helping children express their God-given talents for communication and perfomance. However, it is also considered by many professional actors to be a place where more “pure” theatre can be explored, with the most human and least technical elements in focus.
At the same time as we focus on the simplicity of the space and the human dimension, we value the core features of sound, lighting, and seating which enhance the experience for both performers and their audience and we look forward to sharing this space with our Vero Beach Community and we are excited by the possibilities that will open up.
