That was the challenge we presented our students in grades 2-4 last week: to explore how candy corn reacts in different liquids.
Each group developed an hypothesis about which solvent would dissolve the candy corn fastest. Their options included:
- Vinegar
- Hot water
- Dish soap
- Mouthwash
- Disinfectant
- Coca Cola
As they observed the changes, students recorded their data and shared their findings like real scientists. Even our Kindergarten students stopped by to see the colorful reactions in action.
While we waited for the results, students learned about the history of candy corn and created festive candy corn art.
